How does Roku TV work?

Roku TV is a smart TV with built-in streaming apps, so there’s no separate device to plug in. You can either sign in directly on the TV or cast from your personal device, depending on your preference.

Option 1: Watch directly on the Roku TV (recommended)

  1. Turn on the TV.
  2. You’ll see the Roku home screen.
  3. Open a streaming app (such as Netflix, YouTube, or Prime Video).
  4. Sign in using your personal account.
  5. Start watching.

Tip: Don’t forget to sign out of your accounts before check-out.

Option 2: Cast from your phone or laptop to Roku TV

You can also stream content from your personal device to the TV.

  • Connect your device to the provided Wi-Fi.
  • Turn on the TV and make sure it’s on the Roku home screen.
  • On your phone or laptop, open a streaming app (for example, Netflix or YouTube).
  • Start playing the video you’d like to watch.
  • Tap the Cast, Screen Mirroring, or AirPlay icon (the rectangle with waves or overlapping shapes).
  • Select the Roku TV or the option that includes your unit number.
  • Your video should begin playing on the TV.

Having trouble?

If the TV doesn’t appear as an option:

  • Make sure your device and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network
  • Try restarting the TV
  • Ensure Screen Mirroring or AirPlay is enabled in the Roku settings
