The Sunset uses secure, keyless entry—no physical keys, no front desk lines. Everything you need to access your room is sent digitally before arrival.
Step 1: Complete pre-arrival verification
Before we can send your access details, all guests must complete our pre-arrival verification. This helps us keep the building secure and ensures a smooth, contact-free arrival.
You’ll receive a verification email after booking with a secure link.
Once completed, you’re all set for arrival day.

Step 2: Receive your access details on arrival day
On the day of your stay, you’ll receive an email with:
- Your unique room access code
- Instructions for using our electronic door locks
- Everything you need for a smooth self-check-in
Access details are typically sent within 1 hour of check-in, often closer to standard check-in time.
Step 3: Use your digital code to enter
When you arrive at the hotel:
- Go directly to your room
- Enter your unique access code on the electronic lock
- Enjoy your stay—no keys, cards, or front desk required
Each code is time-limited and works only for your stay.
Why don’t I see my access code yet?
There are a few common reasons access details may not appear right away:
It’s not arrival day yet
Access codes are only released on the day of check-in, after verification is complete.
Pre-arrival verification isn’t finished
If verification hasn’t been completed, access details won’t be released.
There’s a payment issue
If you see a notice that says “To view your access details, please update your payment”, the card on file needs attention.
What to do next depends on how you booked:
- Booked through Airbnb
Follow Airbnb’s steps to update your payment method in their Help Center. - Booked through Booking.com
Update your card using Booking.com’s payment settings. - Booked through Expedia, VRBO, Hotwire, or another site
Please contact that booking platform directly to update your card. - Booked directly with The Sunset

What if my access code doesn’t work?
This is rare, but if it happens:
- Double-check that you’re entering the full code correctly
- Ensure you are pressing # after entering the code
- Make sure you’re at the correct room
If the issue persists, contact our team right away and we’ll help you get inside quickly.
What if I didn’t receive my access email?
First, please check the following:
- Your spam or junk folder
- Search your inbox for “The Sunset”
- Look for emails from our team (info@sunsetinn.com or reservations@sunsetinn.com)
If you still can’t locate your access email, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to resend it.

Can I share my access code with others?
Yes—your access code will work for all registered guests on your reservation. For security reasons, please only share it with members of your group.
Will my access code work after checkout?
No. Your access code will stop working at your scheduled checkout time.
If you need to return to the building after checkout for luggage storage or parking, a new temporary access code will be sent to your email once your stay has ended.
This temporary code will remain active until 7:00 PM on your departure day.
